In this full day workshop we'll be exploring the wonderful technique of Keum Boo. Keum Boo is a Korean technique, and the name literally means "attached gold." It's a technique I adore and use throughout my own work, so I'm really looking forward to sharing it with you.
I'll teach you how to use a combination of heat and pressure to apply gold foil to silver, creating beautiful contrasts and decorative patterns. We'll also look at different embossing techniques using the rolling mill, exploring textures and creating patterns with watercolour paper.
We'll bring all of this together to create a piece of decorative silver and gold, which I'll then show you how to saw pierce, drill and file, so you come away with a striking pair of earrings or a pendant. You'll also have the chance to oxidise your piece, for that lovely black and gold contrast I use so often in my own work.
